Paperless Intakes — Secure Messaging—Appointment Reminders

—Evening and Weekend Appointments—

To save time and simplify access to care, CIC offers:

Typically, sessions are held weekly or bi-weekly.

Counseling most often begins with telling your story, and CIC is honored to actively listen. Your story is woven with threads and connections that are invaluable in gaining insight and clarity into what you may need and want during this time. Your story provides opportunities to reconnect with and redefine your values, explore and redefine hope, and create a deeper understanding and connection to self and others.

Often it’s hard to know where to begin. Whether you have a specific problem, feel that you want or need to make some kind of change in your life, or simply need a space to process your experiences and emotions. CIC can help you feel empowered to make the changes that have meaning for YOU and allow you to live fully, even when facing serious illness.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT

Life is full of challenges. When someone you care about is facing a serious illness, there may be new or changing caregiving needs. CIC understands this may be one of the most challenging times in your life. CIC also acknowledges that while some caregiver roles are planned for; many are not; which can further contribute to feelings of emotional overload.

CIC offers tailored support to help caregivers cope with the psychological, physical, and logistical impact of caregiving.

Caregiver burnout, caring for self, finding balance, and helping to navigate complex healthcare systems are common topics that CIC helps address. CIC also provides bereavement/grief counseling for caregivers or family members who’ve experienced the death of a loved one.

EXPLAINING SERIOUS ILLNESS TO CHILDREN

Talking to children about serious illness is undoubtedly one of the most difficult things a person can ever do. While these conversations can be emotionally painful, they are absolutely possible and invaluable, and children are better off and adjusted as a result.

Here at CIC, we are no strangers to these conversations. We help parents, family members, and family friends navigate this exact territory with curiosity, compassion, and confidence. We also provide the tools and resources needed to prepare you to answer the questions that only children seem to come up with (and they can be tough ones!). While it’s difficult to ever feel totally ready for these conversations, CIC can help you feel better prepared and less overwhelmed.

Common questions: When should I tell my child about a serious illness? How much information should I share? Can I use the word cancer? How can I help my child remain supported through an illness? How will I know if my child is struggling and what additional help is available? What should I tell the school or teachers? Is it okay to talk about death?

Contact CIC for a consultation. We’re also happy to provide any follow-up sessions to ensure you feel that you’re on the right track.

HEALTHCARE NAVIGATION

CIC is proud to offer healthcare navigation services aimed at increasing understanding and navigation of any complex healthcare system you find yourself a part of. It’s no secret that our healthcare systems are not designed to be user-friendly and often act as a barrier to accessing the care you need and deserve.

With decades of experience working alongside multidisciplinary medical teams, CIC understands the inner workings of medical care, hospitals, and our healthcare systems.

When you’re facing a serious illness it can be overwhelming to manage the amount of care and medical specialties you may need. Through our healthcare navigation services, we hope to empower you to learn how to coordinate your own care and manage chronic and serious illness skillfully. At CIC, we believe in treating the WHOLE person, which for many includes integrative and functional medicine (nutrition, exercise, acupuncture, massage, mindfulness etc).

CIC offers comprehensive evaluations and education to ensure patients, caregivers, families, and children are aware of and connected to the appropriate resources that can be helpful and supportive when dealing with chronic or serious illness.

CIC offers individual clinical supervision to Associate Social Workers working towards licensure. All clinical supervision appointments are conducted virtually using a HIPPA-compliant platform. CIC believes that clinical supervision should be accessible to those who wish to advance their practice and are committed to professional growth. Please inquire directly with CIC to discuss current rates.
